An imaginative tribute to the mechanical ingenuity of the medieval engineer Ismail al-Jazari (1136–1206). Not a reconstruction of his Elephant Clock.

Time, knowledge & invention

Time, Ingenuity &
the Legacy of Al-Jazari

Al-Jazari was a medieval engineer celebrated for intricate water-powered clocks and automata. His Elephant Clock, described in his work around 1206, brought together controlled motion, falling balls, and mechanical indicators to mark the passage of time.

Our digital instrument borrows the visual language of a pavilion, calibrated dial, falling sphere, and moving pointer. Its timekeeping is modern JavaScript—not a reproduction of the historical water-powered mechanism.
